How to Know if Your Mix Hopper Compressor is Failing
The primary symptom of a bad mix hopper compressor is high product temperature in the mix hopper. The refrigeration system includes a thermistor probe that monitors mix temperature and communicates with the logic board, which signals the power board to supply 220-volt power to the compressor. Other components in this system include the EPR valve (evaporator pressure regulator), capillary tube metering device, and condenser fan motor wired in series with the compressor.
Important: Since the power board supplies 110 volts directly to this compressor, a shorted compressor can sometimes damage the power board as well. If you're experiencing compressor failure, it's wise to inspect the power board for damage.
