Taylor 021522-27 / 089459-27 Beater Motor — 1.5 HP, 208–230V, 1-Phase
Replacement 1.5 HP, 208–230V, single-phase main drive motor for Taylor soft serve machines. Replaces Taylor part numbers 021522-27 and 089459-27. Color-coded quick-connect wiring harness included. Made in the USA.
If your Taylor machine uses a 1.5 HP single-phase motor, this is the correct replacement — regardless of whether the removed motor was labeled 021522-27 or 089459-27.
When to Replace
- Motor fails to start or starts intermittently under load
- Tripping the reset button on the machine (also check beater line starter first)
- Burning smell or excessive heat from the motor area
- Unusual noise, grinding, or vibration from the drive motor
- During major machine overhaul or drive system service
Fitment Notes
- Bolt holes align exactly with the Taylor machine frame — no drilling, cutting, or shimming required
- Motor body is slightly longer than the OEM unit due to a heavier-duty design — this is normal
- Mounting plate shape may look different from the old unit — this is normal; Taylor has used multiple motor suppliers over the years
- Uses the same belt and pulley as the removed motor
- C713 note: on some C713 machines, the refrigeration suction line sits close to the motor body; if needed, gently move the copper line by hand ~½" to create clearance (no tools required)
Electrical Wiring
- Motor ships with a color-coded quick-connect harness attached
- Strip the wires from the machine and match them to the connector by color
- No wiring diagrams or guessing required
Installation Steps
- Disconnect power to the machine
- Loosen and remove motor bolts; remove the old motor
- Swap pulley to the new motor if needed
- Bolt the new motor in place using the original bolt holes
- Strip machine wires and insert into the color-coded connector; plug connectors together
- Install the belt and set proper tension
- Restore power and test operation
