When to Replace
The expansion valve is typically replaced due to leaks or restrictions. Leaks can be detected with leak detection solution. Restrictions are diagnosed with refrigeration gauges — if your machine pulls into a vacuum on the low side, a restricted expansion valve is usually the cause.
